Topic

Prefabricated exterior wall systems are gaining popularity and complexity due to various factors: overseas procurement streams, stricter energy codes, and the growing trend of complex building geometries. EllisDon has a unique position in the industry to observe the trends, challenges, and opportunities surrounding prefabricated facades, as well as the lessons learned from projects across Canada. In this presentation we will delve into these aspects in depth, exploring several types of prefabricated wall systems and their ideal use cases in low-rise or high-rise buildings, as well as residential, commercial, institutional, and healthcare settings.

Speakers

Tyler Bowie, EIT 

Tyler has been with EllisDon in the Construction Sciences department since 2019. His role as a Buidling and Material Sciences Specialist at EllisDon is threefold: to provide technical support on building envelope issues to project teams across the country, to disseminate knowledge to everyone at EllisDon on technical topics, and to research and develop new construction technologies. Currently he represents the Building and Material Sciences group for the BC region, as well as several high-profile projects in the Toronto area. He has a Bachelor of Applied Science in Civil Engineering from the University of Waterloo.

 

 

Vincent Davenport, EIT 

Vincent is the Director of the Building and Material Sciences group within the Construction Sciences division at EllisDon. He is passionate about the built environment with a particular interest in high-performance buildings, prefabrication, and really anything that makes the construction process more efficient. Vincent obtained his Bachelor of Applied Science in Civil Engineering from the University of Toronto in 2012.
