In May 2016, the Auditor General reported to the Commissioner of the Environment and Sustainable Development that “[…] the current approach to building design is based solely on historic data and does not take into account climate change trends.” and that the National Research Council should incorporate change trends into the National Building Code. That process has started by way of work at CSA and Environment and Climate Change Canada.
