This webinar will discuss the challenges faced when designing the world’s first certified Passive House Car Dealership. This project was developed by a car dealership-family with an eye on long-term value. The harsh climatic conditions, site characteristics, and strict client requirements proved extremely challenging, demanding tremendous efforts from the entire design and construction team.
Key challenges included strict corporate design guidelines combined with non-optimal solar exposure, building airtightness associated with accessibility (overhead doors) for vehicles and the demanding ventilation requirements associated with the service wing of the building.
Stephen Quinn, from Peel Passive House Consulting Ltd. will discuss in detail how these challenges were overcome and how the design and construction team worked collaboratively to push the limits of the design to achieve Passive House compliance. There will also be time allocated for question and answers at the end of the presentation.
Speaker: Stephen Quinn
Stephen is a certified Passive House Designer with over 8 years experience in the Passive House industry, 5 of those years working as a project manager with a leading Passive House consulting company in Germany. Stephen comes from an engineering background having completed a Civil Engineering degree in the UK.
Being at the forefront of the Passive House movement Stephen has gained firsthand experience working on some of the largest Passive House buildings worldwide. With projects ranging from hotels to museums he has gained a wealth of knowledge in applying the Passive House principles to numerous types of buildings.
He recently had the role as Passive House project manager for one of central London’s first certified social housing developments.
At Peel Passive House, Stephen primarily works in certification and consultancy, working closely with clients on Passive House projects.
