NAFS and the Canadian Building Code an Update
Speaker: Jeff Baker, Fenestration Canada / WESTLab
This presentation will provide an update on the current NAFS documents and where NAFS is in use in Canada. The presentation will also cover NAFS labeling requirements in Canada. Finally the presentation will provide a look into the future direction of the NAFS standard.

Glazing Failure Case Studies
Speaker: Rob Wood, C3 Polymeric
Curtain wall failures are a common and often highly visible problem for commercial owners and managers. This presentation focuses on ways in which a curtain wall can fail, including air and water penetration, structural failures, and aesthetic degradation. From design and installation, to components reaching their design lifecycle, curtain walls fail for a variety of reasons. Practical examples are used to show these root causes, what could have been done to prevent them, and illustrate proper methods of detailing.

This presentation will include:
  • A review of Window/Curtainwall performance as well
  • as related types of Laboratory and on site field testing.
  • Specifying onsite testing and quality assurance,
  • inspection
  • Review onsite testing accuracy, on site testing
  • difficulties and interpretation of results
  • Quality monitoring: failures, mockup modifications, retesting

Let’s Talk: An Open Debate on the Pros and Cons of
Glass Dominated Condo Façades
